Mission Statement
Our mission at Valor Counseling Center is to provide compassionate, trusted counseling to first responders and the broader community by integrating psychological and faith-based approaches. We are committed to helping individuals, couples, and families make sense of their stories, work through life’s challenges, and experience meaningful, lasting wellness.
Vision Statement
At Valor Counseling Center we desire to be humble leaders in the mental health field for first responders and broader community, where individuals, couples, and families feel seen, supported, and equipped to heal. We aspire to cultivate a culture of resilience and hope by making compassionate, integrative counseling accessible and impactful for all who seek it.
Why the Name “Valor”?
In the Book of Judges, "valor" (Hebrew: chayil) refers to the divine calling and potential in figures like Gideon (Judges 6) and Jephthah (Judges 11), describing them as strong, courageous warriors God uses, even when they feel weak or unlikely, to deliver Israel from oppression, highlighting God's power working through human weakness and transforming ordinary people into heroes of faith. Choosing to work on ourselves provides a path towards healing, so we can use our gifts from the Lord to bless others.
Serving Our First Responders
At Valor Counseling Center, we have a special niche in working with frontline men and women as well as their families. As part of our mission to provide quality mental health care, one of our goals is to be culturally competent clinicians. We feel honored to help these heroes remain healthy.
A first responder is defined as:
“…an individual who is among the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency, such as an accident, natural disaster, or terrorist attack.”
Specializing in Trauma
Whether we acknowledge it or not, every individual has some sort of trauma(s) on their timeline. At Valor, we understand how these wounds can create blocks or even raw spots which can affect our relationships, work life, and overall ability to live freely. We specialize in looking at these aspects of each of individual’s life in order to help them in the best possible way. No matter your background, we hope to serve you in non-judgmental way that feels affective and life-giving.
Proactive Supervision
At Valor, we believe in creating well-rounded clinicians who understand their own story and therefore, are able to show-up for others well in the therapy office. We are intentional about community, education, and creating opportunities for training experiences in order to grow and be equipped for the counseling field.
Intentional Wellness Care
Viewing each individual as a whole person, created in the image of God. Addressing all areas of life with gentleness and intentionality in order to give each person the best possible care with a trained approach to mental health. We partner with other clinicians, doctors, and those in the field of wellness who also desire a healthy view of each person.
