Mission Statement
Our mission at Valor Counseling Center is to provide trusted, quality counseling by utilizing psychological and/or theological approaches for any individual desiring to make sense of their story by addressing layers of hardship. We seek to be on the frontlines of mental health wellness care for individuals, couples, and families from all backgrounds and experiences.
Vision Statement
At Valor Counseling Center we desire to always provide quality counsel through continual training, involvement in the community, and prioritizing our own health as clinicians, so that we can offer our best in your counseling session. We also seek to build partnerships with other groups and organizations.
Why Valor?
In the Book of Judges, "valor" (Hebrew: chayil) refers to the divine calling and potential in figures like Gideon (Judges 6) and Jephthah (Judges 11), describing them as strong, courageous warriors God uses, even when they feel weak or unlikely, to deliver Israel from oppression, highlighting God's power working through human weakness and transforming ordinary people into heroes of faith. Choosing to work on ourselves provides a path towards healing, so we can use our giftings from the Lord to bless others.
Specializing in Trauma
Whether we acknowledge it or not, every individual has some sort of trauma(s) on their timeline. At Valor, we understand how these wounds can create blocks or even raw spots which can affect our relationships, work life, and overall ability to live freely. We specialize in looking at these aspects of each of individual’s life in order to help them in the best possible way. No matter your background, we hope to serve you in non-judgmental way that feels affective and life-giving.
Serving Our First Responders
At Valor Counseling Center, we have a special niche in working with frontline men and women as well as their families. As part of our mission to provide quality mental health care, one of our goals is to be culturally competent clinicians to this population. A first responder is defined as:
“…an individual who is among the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency, such as an accident, natural disaster, or terrorist attack.”
Proactive Supervision
At Valor, we believe in creating well-rounded clinicians who understand their own story and therefore, are able to show-up for others well in the therapy office. We are intentional about community, education, and creating opportunities for training experiences in order to grow and be equipped for the counseling field.
