Deciding to go to counseling can feel like a big step. When your symptoms begin to surface, it is important to first acknowledge what feels uncomfortable or stressful, so you can move towards managing better. These indicators are your body, mind, and/or spirit’s way of prompting you to put on your oxygen mask. We’ve all been there. We all have a story which contains some amount of hurt. Seeking wise counsel is healthy and finding the right, trusted therapist is best as you move towards your goals.

Identifying and learning about your emotions, sharing your story, and learning how to process and cope better are all healthy next steps. Talking about how you feel does not make you weak! It is actually quite the opposite. Talking in a safe space shows vulnerability and vulnerability overpowers shame which actually helps increase your resiliency! It also helps to bring continued awareness and like any other training you may do like going to the gym, counseling can help you live your best life personally and professionally. Therapy will not take the pain away completely, but it will help you manage.

Facing your pain is a hard step, but it’s important to remember we were never meant to carry the weight of our hardships alone. Whether it is anxiety, depression, anger, career struggles, betrayal or more, there is hope and we want to walk alongside you. We also care about your circle of relationships and want to encourage you in these important connections with others. At Valor, we understand the importance and need for good community.

Our counselors want to give each client the best treatment and care because we love what we do and we see the bigger picture. We are a trusted circle of culturally-competent therapists, striving to connect with relevant, effective mental health practices and if desired, Biblical principals. In order to do this, we seek to look at the whole person from holistic, wellness perspective. In addition, sometimes specific treatments such as EMDR are used to work through blocks in progress.

"For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” -Galatians 5:13
